Beach Getaway & Impact Trip: May 4-6

Pack your flip-flops and get ready for a relaxed coastal getaway! We’ll spend time in historic Charleston and slow things down in Folly Beach— “The Edge of America”. Expect ocean breezes, fellowship, laughter, good food, and a chance to serve together with Folly Beach Baptist Church.

Day 1 - Historic Charleston & Oceanfront Stay Today we make our way to historic downtown Charleston and enjoy an included lunch together at High Cotton, located in a beautifully restored 19th-century warehouse. After lunch, we’ll head to the Charleston City Market—just a block away— where you’ll find hundreds of local vendors selling homemade arts and crafts, sweetgrass baskets, jewelry and everything Charleston—including buttery pralines and fudge for later! Then it’s off to Folly Beach, where our oceanfront hotel sits just steps from the sand and downtown shops. Every room has either a balcony or terrace so you can enjoy the salty air anytime you like. Dinner is on your own at nearby favorites like Rita’s Seaside Grill, The Crab Shack, Loggerheads, The Washout, Woody’s Pizza or Taco Boy.
Day 2 - Coffee, Mission & Free Time Start the day your way — maybe with a latte and pastry from Roasted or Center Street Coffee or dive into a full Southern-style breakfast at the famous Lost Dog Cafe or Rita’s Seaside Grill. Once we are fueled up, we’ll head over to Folly Beach Baptist Church for a morning mission project. The afternoon is wide open. Grab lunch, stroll downtown, explore the shops, walk the beach, or just relax and enjoy the ocean breeze. Dinner is on your own with many great options within walking distance.
Day 3 - History Under the Live Oaks We’ll begin the morning with breakfast, then board our bus and travel to McLeod Plantation Historic Site. Our guided visit includes the plantation home, six original cabins built for the enslaved community, and the breathtaking McLeod Oak—believed to be nearly 1,000 years old. Your ticket and guided tour are included. As we head home to Aiken, we’ll bring back sandy shoes, happy hearts, lots of laughter, and sweet memories of time spent together by the sea—thanking God for safe travels, warm friendships, and the beauty of His Creation.
