The Abbott family learned some indescribable news this week that no parent/sister/grandparent/family/friend would ever want to hear. Sweet Hudson was diagnosed with T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. It began about 5 weeks ago with a swollen lymph node. Bloodwork was drawn and prayers were sent that it would just be a bacterial infection. Hudson was referred to a surgeon and began an antibiotic after all bloodwork came back negative. On the antibiotic for almost a week, the swelling was not reducing and the swollen lymph nodes actually began to get bigger. Jennifer and Brandon took Hudson on Monday, December 3 back to Children’s hospital and Hudson underwent an unplanned surgery to remove the swollen lymph nodes. Then were sent home to wait for answers and pray again it was just a bacterial infection. On Wednesday afternoon, they received a call from the surgeon and it was not the news they were hoping for. Sweet, handsome, smart, vivacious Hudson would be admitted right away to undergo more tests/procedures and begin chemo treatments.
